Under The Weather

Waking up beneath a gray sky

Waking up to feel a cold I

Had been wishing away

It’s nothing I’m saving for a rainy day

Under the weather for a spell

Wonder if I’ll weather it well

Under the weather I fell

For a spell and it makes me wonder

Blue umbrella by the front door

Blue umbrella for a downpour

From November to May

There’s nothing I need to keep the rain at bay

Under the weather for a spell

Wonder if I’ll weather it well

Under the weather I fell

For a spell and it makes me wonder

Spellbound, I’m writing it down

Though words often fail me

Run down, but maybe I’ve found

The cure for what ails me

Light a candle after midnight

Light a candle, well I just might

Let the storm carry on

Cause nothing awakens til the rain is gone

Under the weather for a spell

Wonder if I’ll weather it well

Under the weather I fell

For a spell and it makes me wonder

Under the weather for a spell

I fell - is it any wonder?

The Stowaway

Captain I know what it’s like to be lost at sea
Rowing a lifeboat and bearing a cross, that’s me
Maybe I’m stuck in the shallows
Maybe you can reach me

I’m the stowaway
Stole aboard under cover of midnight
The stowaway
The passenger hiding in plain sight

Captain that hurricane’s spinning up fast on you
Running away’s no escape from the past, it’s true
Maybe I’ll tell you my story
Maybe you’ll believe me

I’m the stowaway
Stole aboard under cover of midnight
The stowaway
The passenger hiding in plain sight

Search light hold tight
Throw me a line
Nothing is safe yet
So don’t let go
Don’t get caught in the undertow

Captain I’m making amends so I don’t regret
Something I want to forgive but I won’t forget
Maybe I’ll sing to the Sirens
Maybe they’ll release me

I’m the stowaway
I’m the passenger hiding in plain sight
I’m the stowaway
And I’ve always been hiding in plain sight

Tapestry

The night sky is a tapestry

Somber in its hue

It's a curtain hanging over me

And a veil in front of you

The night sky is a tapestry lit by the moon

The night sky is a tapestry woven for you

I could hitchhike to Tehachapi

Like the desperados do

By the roadside keeping company

With a tumbleweed or two

The night sky is a tapestry lit by the moon

The night sky is a tapestry woven for you

Now I'm hanging on

By only a single strand

Still I chase the dawn

And reach for your gentle hand

When I met you on the balcony

All the stars came out on cue

They are sequins on a canopy

They are candles burning through

The night sky is a tapestry lit by the moon

The night sky is a tapestry woven for you

Sea Glass

Broken bottle wash up on the shoreline

Rolling over underneath the sunshine

Sharp edges go dull in the sand

Find as many as you can

Imagine sea glass
The color of your birthstone

Remember sea glass
A pebble in a blue tone

Iridescent it will catch the moonlight

Indigo inside a flash at midnight

Lost treasure discovered at last

Relic from the past
Reminder of home

Imagine sea glass
The color of your birthstone

Remember sea glass
A pebble in a blue tone

Imagine sea glass

One color of a rainbow

Bits and pieces tumble in the shore break

Strung together on your wrist, a keepsake

Bright crystal awash in the sand

Let me take you by the hand
Let me carry you home

Imagine sea glass
The color of your birthstone

Remember sea glass
A pebble in a blue tone

Imagine sea glass
One color of a rainbow

Remember sea glass

Wherever does the time go?

You look for sea glass
So maybe this will ring true
Imagine sea glass
A rhapsody in amber, green and blue

The Last Payphone

Well I used to be relevant
Had a seat at the main event

Oh but those were the golden days

Why did we ever part ways?

Lonely vigil through the dead of night

Clarion signal from a pool of light

This payphone rings forever

This payphone rings forever

Someone new ambled down the lane

He was stylish and self-contained

Liberated from ties that bind

You never saved your dimes

Silence broken on the moonlit town

Promise unspoken in the plaintive sound

This payphone rings forever

This payphone rings forever

Who would pay any heed?

To the last of a dying breed

So hard to compete

When you’re already obsolete

And forsaken

Lonely vigil through the dead of night

Clarion signal from a pool of light

This payphone rings forever

This payphone rings forever

Silence broken on the moonlit town

Promise unspoken in the plaintive sound

This payphone rings forever

This payphone rings forever

I heard you say it’s never ever too late

It's never too late

It's never too late

Queen of the Second Hand

Parking at the meter, wait ‘til the coin drops

Just in time to meet her, up at the thrift shop

Look around for the hand-me-down

That someone’s bound to need

Like a pair of sequined lavender high-tops

Gotta find a way to spend every minute

With the queen of the second hand

Wish I knew a way to save every minute

For the queen of the second hand

She can pick a sweater, up at the yard sale

Suits me so much better than anything retail

When the tag has the price marked down

It’s always bound to please

Dressing to the letter down to my coat tails

Gotta find a way to spend every minute

With the queen of the second hand

Wish I knew a way to save every minute

For the queen of the second hand

She’s the miner of the diamond in the rough

And the finder of the needle in the hay

When I ask her will it ever be enough?

She says no way - I say alright okay

Bell-bottoms on well-worn jeans

That no one seems to need

Nothing could be sweeter than snagging the last pair

Gotta find a way to spend every minute

With the queen of the second hand

Wish I knew a way to save every minute

For the queen of the second hand
